Blue Suede Shoes

Winter, as much as I love you for big cozy sweaters, long wrapping
scarves, and a melange of coats -- my husband just counted today
an 11:2 ratio of my coats to his in our hall closet -- I am ready for
you to depart. Bring on Spring! These blue suede shoes would add
a fun pop of color and whimsy to practically any outfit.

Cold weather cozies

Lately as the days grow shorter (sunset at 4:30pm come on??!) and the
days get cooler my mind has been preoccupied not just with looking cute, but
also with staying warm. I haven't had to wear a hat for warmth since winter
of 2001 when I moved to California! With that in mind I've been on the hunt
for some warm weather accessories like these fun fingerless gloves (cashmere
long fingerless gloves and Juicy Couture bow and charm gloves). They provide
warmth while still allowing you the dexterity to grab things without removing
your gloves.


I'm a big fan of the dark gray, but could be persuaded to try another color (Nordstrom
long fingerless gloves). Purple perhaps?


These flip styles give you the best of both worlds - mittens and gloves in one (Fred Flare
red fingerless mittens, and Portolano flip-top mittens).


These shorter versions are probably less useful for warmth, but they sure are fun
(Kashmere, and Knit Crochet fingerless gloves from UO).

I think I will try to find this slouchy knit hat at Urban
Outfitters. What do you think? Cute?

Berets

I am looking for a warm yet stylish hat to wear to Paris and London in a few weeks.


One style I've been seeing around a lot lately is the beret. Here are some classic beret's from the girls on "Gossip Girl". I haven't had one of these since I was a little girl...


Then there's the pouffy beret seen here in winter white and plaid.


I especially like the slouchy knit styles seen here on some fashionable celebrities. I think I'll keep my eyes open for one of these perhaps in steel grey.

I heart coats

In keeping with the cold weather theme of the day I give you a post about
coats.... Coats are some of my favorite things: wool coats and trench coats,
swing coats and plaid coats, long coats and leather coats. I've rarely met a
coat I didn't like.


White coats, how beautiful are thee... but oh how easily dirtied. Kenneth
Cole Reaction Funnel Coat and Marc Jacobs Twill Coat -- I know I've
posted a pic of this coat before, but it's still one of the most beautiful
coats I've come across in a long time. I love the shape and especially the
collar.


Bright coats cheer up a cold gray day (J Crew Gramercy Coat and Marc
by Marc Jacobs Wool Felt Coat).


Black coats are always useful, especially one with fun buttons (Diesel
Brosti Coat, and Kensie Wool Pleated Coat)


Duffle coats and marmalade sandwiches to make you feel like Paddington
Bear (Banana Republic Wool Toggle Coat -- I got last year's version in
gray for Christmas and it's wonderfully toggly, and J. Crew Stadium cloth
toggle-coat).


I have never actually ever owned a puffer coat, though I imagine that
will change next year when I move to cold cold cold New York. I
rather like this metallic puff by J. Crew and Puffer Vest from Banana
Republic.


The only coat I don't think I'll ever own is a fur coat, though faux can be
fabulous (Faux-fur shrug and Animal-print faux-fur shrug). The one on the
left is adorable!

Cold Feet!

My feet tend to turn into icicles for practically the whole
winter long. In my quest to find something to warm my
tootsies (besides my husband's belly), I came across these
microwavable heated slippers (Cosy Soles, and Happy
Company Chenille Toes). They're not much to look at, but I
think I could sacrifice some fashion for toasty toes. There
are also battery operated versions, but having a battery on
or in your slipper might be somewhat awkward.

The Cosy Soles are heated throughout while the Happy
Company slippers have a microwavable scent pack that
smells of lavender, clove and chamomile.
