Our apartment in a Pod

You may have noticed that posts have been a bit scant recently. That's because we've been spending nearly all of our time either working or trying to fit all of our apartment into a giant plastic (and metal) box. Here is our lovely Pod filled up with all of our belongings. It doesn't really look like all that much stuff once you put it all together. We only ended up filling a little over half the Pod, tying things into place to keep it from shifting around too much. Everything is going into storage and will meet us in New York in August. Sigh... I will miss my shoe collection this summer as I will be living out of one medium sized suitcase and a duffel until late August. Tomorrow it's off to Alaska for work and then we say farewell to our apartment July 1.

Going Away Party Outfit

Sadly we are shortly leaving the Bay Area for NY. Last weekend we had an all day going away party with about 30+ guests. I finally got a chance to wear my H&M Marimekko print maxi-dress. I love the big bold print and the cut isn't bad either. Here's me helping to grill some Indonesian chicken sate skewers with peanut sauce. Yum!

Outfit:

Dress - Marimekko H&M
Sweater - J. Crew Cardigan
Flip flops - Reef

Anniversary

We spent our 3rd wedding anniversary at Stinson beach, the place where we got engaged. It was a warm and sunny 80 degrees, too cold for swimming (the water felt like ice), but perfect for sunning ourselves in the sand.

Me in an Ikat print dress from Wet Seal and my bikini on my oh so classy Winnie the Pooh towel.

Gorgeous!

I am 100% totally in love with this bag (on sale for $99.99 from $179.99). It's the perfect shape and color, and the long strap is a bit reminiscent of a school satchel without being too young! I wish we weren't moving so soon otherwise I would order it online right now, but maybe I can find it in the store tomorrow. Cross your fingers.

Spa Visit

Today a good friend of mine and I spent the morning relaxing at the Claremont spa as a kind of going away pampering visit, something we'd been talking about doing for ages. After a few hours of sitting in the whirlpool and under the deluge shower we both tried the Rosemary Citron Dead Sea Salt Scrub. Basically they rub you down with coarse salt, rinse you off, wrap you in hot tea soaked towels for a bit, then massage in some lovely oils. It was the perfect way to get ready for summer (although pedicures are a definite must for us next).

We also had lunch at the Paragon cafe in the hotel with this gorgeous view of Berkeley and the Bay and ordered way too much food: fried calamari, fish tacos and a chipotle chicken sandwich with fries. Better start that healthy diet tomorrow (well not exactly tomorrow cause it's my wedding anniversary, but definitely soon...)!

Outfit of the day

Saturday's outfit:

Dress: Gap
Sweater: J. Crew
Shoes: Enzo Angiolini gladiators

Things are getting pretty insane around here in preparation for our roadtrip and upcoming move across the country. Today I packed up my closet. Whew! Either I have a lot of clothes or my husband doesn't have many, or maybe it's a little of both. The summer wardrobe is going to be a little spare since we have to fit everything into our car while traveling, but maybe I can pick up a few things along the way.

Name Ring

I had been thinking lately about name jewelry a la Carrie's necklace in Sex & the City, and was watching an episode of "The Hills" yesterday (yes I know horrible scripted reality tv show, but they do wear great clothes) when I spotted a cool looking ring on both Lauren and Audrina. It's quite small so a bit hard to tell, but the rings seem to display their names writtin in tiny script and worn across two fingers.

Apparently they had them specially made by XIV Karats, but I am greatly tempted by this knock-off version from bynet.com, of course with my own name. ; -) Too cheesy?

Update: I also found this simpler version of the two-finger ring, though maybe it's less fun... I just can't decide...

Outfit of the day

My outfit for a night out with the girls to see the Sex and the City movie! Well of course the clothes in the movie were fabulous, especially the teal bird in Carrie's hair for the wedding scene (though amazingly I didn't totally love the wedding dress - it just didn't seem to fit right...). The movie itself was pretty good, a bit predictable and happy endings all around, but exactly what I wanted. :)

We went on Sunday evening expecting the crowds to have died down a little, but it was insane! Every early show was sold out and we ended up having to purchase tickets for the 10:30pm showing for which there was a long line when we returned from dinner and drinks around 9:45. Luckily my husband was gracious enough to come pick us East Bay girls up after the show since the BART had stopped running. Such a sweetie!

My outfit:
Dress - Maria Garcia purchased at a great little boutique in Rio de Janeiro (Contemporaneo). I have worn this dress to so many events because it's easy to just throw on and wear just about anywhere.
Shoes - Marc by Marc Jacobs - my go to heels whenever an event involves a fair amount of walking (pretty means much anything in sf).
Coat - Tulle
Purse - Sonia Rykiel from my trip to Paris during the winter sales.
Tights - Assets

We had some yummy, very pink cocktails (mmm pomegranate martini!) on the top floor of the Marriot hotel in San Francisco. They have a really great view and a window that makes you feel as if you are standing on the bridge of the death star.

The girls were looking very cute! Sorry I don't know what they're wearing although A (right) is wearing a dress from Weston Wear that we got on one of our many shopping trips, and N (left) has on a fabulous and extremely soft scarf from Urban Outfitters.

An up close shot of G and N. Love the purple arm warmers and the H&M Marimekko print shirt!
