A ruffle moment

Continuing with my fall theme, I was watching this cute little movie called
Gigantic the other day and spotted this heavenly coat on my fave Zooey
Deschanel with the most amazing ruffled sleeves. It would be perfect with
some of those long leather gloves we saw all over last year. I have no idea
who makes it, but I die (also watched an episode of the Rachel Zoe project
for the first time. That woman is just crazy ;) ). I may have a bit of a coat
obsession...

Back to School Shopping

Fall always puts me in the mood for back to school shopping, even though I've been out of school for a few years now. I just can't resist fall clothes after a long hot summer and can't wait to buy new sweaters, jackets, and tall brown boots. While out doing a little cool weather damage on my credit card I spotted this majorly cute foldover bag from the gap. The leather feels quite sturdy and nice and the foldover silhouette adds just the right touch of style. It's really not a bad buy at $158. If only it was large enough to fit my laptop!

I didn't get the bag, but I did pick up a few staples including this loose and easy skirt, and a ruffle checked button down. I also got a fabulous See by Chloe dress marked down to 28% of the original price at Macy's, and a pair of gray dropped crouch trousers from H&M, but you'll have to wait to see the pics of those! I also almost bought the most beautiful dark gray wool coat by Maison Martin Margiella with amazing detailing around the arms at Loehmann's, but couldn't quite justify owning another gray coat and it was just the teeniest bit snug across the chest.

Sale of the day

Sale at ShopBop, 30% off items already marked down 70%. No returns
allowed, but some pretty deep discounts on designer duds if you're
willing to take a risk.

Slouch

I quite like the look of these slouchy Suave pants from Vince, but
1.) I don't think I'm skinny enough to pull them off
2.) $225 for what are essentially sweat pants, srsly?!?

Payless Collabs

I have been a fan of Target Go International and H&M designer
collaborations for awhile now, but a similar program from Payless
has kept mostly off my radar. I don't think I've set foot in a Payless
in about 15 years. I'm just not a huge fan of faux-leather since I
tend to find it pretty uncomfortable, but this collection from
Christian Siriano due out this fall looks pretty fab! I just love the
chains and spikey details. I will definitely be checking it out, and
with prices between $25 and $45 I just may have to get a pair.

In the mean time there are some pretty cute shoes from their Alice
and Olivia collection, including these strappy biker booties and
neon colored chunky heels. Next time I see a Payless I will definitely
stop in for a peek.

Outfit of the day

We finally made it out to Flushing for dim sum last weekend. Jade Asian restaurant was
decent despite it's unimaginative name, with all of my standard favorites (har gow, cha
sui bao, soup dumplings, rice noodles, etc), but it was no Koi Palace. Sigh, I guess we'll
just have to take a trip to the Bay Area sometime soon to alleviate my dim sum cravings. :)

Outfit:
Dress - Lily with fabric applique flowers from a reasonably priced, cute boutique on the
upper west side.
Purse - Franco Sarto - This color purse has turned out to be uber useful and I've been
wearing it with all of my summer dresses.
Sandals - Isaac Mizrahi for Target. These have lasted pretty well despite being $15 Target
shoes, but they've pretty much bit the dust after a few seasons of wear.

studded gladiators

Just ordered these studded gladiators by Kelsi Dagger from the
new Gilt Fuse site, $49 from $109. Both gladiators and studs are
probably on their way out, but I just couldn't resist. Besides my
gladiators bit the dust about a month ago and I need something
to carry me through the rest of the summer besides my flip flops!

Sale item of the day

Linea Pelle amethyst purse, 43% off from Bluefly.com. I have been in love with Linea Pelle's super soft leather for ages and have been on the lookout for a purple purse for the past year. Very tempting...

Update (8/15/09): Bluefly has an extra 10% off all Bluesale items going on today. I just caved and ordered this purse! The only thing I'm not sure about is I wish it also came with a shorter strap in addition to the long strap. Oh well, I suppose I can always return it if it doesn't live up to my expectations.

Ribbed

Lovely Cara Cocoon dress from Alice + Olivia, with an interesting ribbed back.

Back!

Just returned from a 2 week trip to China/Taiwan. More on that later, but for now
this shirt is loltastic!
