Trend Spotting at Paris Fashion Week

Paris fashion week has so very many amazing collections. Instead of trying to
cover them all, I'll post some pictures from a few of my favorite trends that
cropped up on the Parisian runway.

Shoulder Pads

The Return of the Shoulder Pad... Alexander McQueen, Christian Dior, Hermes.
The shoulder pad revival has been threatening us for a few seasons now, though
I have yet to see much of this on the streets. The new shoulder seems to be less
big and boxy than the shoulder of the 80s, while still providing jackets with a lot
of structure and shape.

Structured Clothes

Even more structured are these dresses from Alexander McQueen. I especially
heart the one on the left. To me these pieces look futuristic, but with a sort of
40s feel. They somehow remind me of Rachel in Bladerunner with her
structured shoulders and nipped in waist. BTW check out those shoes in the
middle picture!

I had a hard time finding good pictures of Rachel's outfits, but here are a few.

Light as air fabrics

On the other end of the spectrum there were
some very beautiful flowy dresses.

Sonia Rykiel

Lanvin

Nina Ricci

Bold Colors

Hermes -- Indian inspired dresses. Apparently turbans are still
in vogue. ;)

Louis Vuitton and Sonia Rykiel.

Girly Touches

Ruffles

Lanvin

Polka Dots

Valentino. The polka dotted shoes and gloves are dottatastic!
